Having not
touched a paint brush or pastel for over 20 years I was really nervous when I
first started classes again. Now I cannot imagine how I managed for so many
years without the ability to express myself on canvas or paper. It never ceases to
amaze me how Harriet can always find something positive and supportive to say
when I am really struggling. Rather surprisingly I get tremendous pleasure from
looking at my work to date remembering the lessons I learnt along the way,
reviewing the mistakes I made and knowing that the road ahead is a long but very
enjoyable one!

For many years I
said "When I retire I want to learn how to paint watercolours", - so 5 years ago
I joined Harriet's class.
Since then it has
diversified into the use of other media and I am really pleased at how much I
have learnt and surprised that I that I think the best picture to date is in
water-based oils- not watercolour
